Homemade toilet gel

Let’s switch to homemade toilet gel! Much greener, much cheaper, and quickly prepared! Two recipes: in gel, or liquid for those in a hurry.


For a toilet gel

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Price: approx. 0.8 € per litre

Ingredients – For 1 litre of product :

  • 340 ml of white vinegar
    Vinegar disinfects, prevents and dissolves mineral stains such as limescale (to which bacteria attach themselves), deodorizes…
  • 660 ml of water
    To dilute the ingredients and increase the volume of the product.
  • 4 tablespoons of potato starch, corn starch…

Utensils

  • a measuring cup
  • a pot
  • a whisk
  • a tablespoon
  • a funnel
  • a recycled bottle with a spout (former toilet bottle)

Preparation

  1. Pour 600 ml of water and 340 ml of vinegar into the pot and boil.
  2. In the measuring cup, dilute the starch in 60 ml of water.
  3. When the water/vinegar mixture is boiling, whisk in the diluted starch.
  4. Stir for a few seconds on the heat and let cool.
  5. Mix one last time.
  6. Transfer to the recycled bottle.

Use

Shake the bottle well before each use.
Coat the bowl with gel and spread it with the brush. Leave for at least 15 minutes, then scrub and rinse by flushing.

Use for regular maintenance.


For a liquid toilet product

Preparation time: 3 minutes
Price: approx. 0.4 € per litre

Ingredients

For 1 litre of product, repeat the same dosage without cornstarch.

Utensils

  • a recycled bottle with a spout or a spray bottle
  • a funnel
  • a label

Preparation

  1. Pour the vinegar into a bottle.
  2. Complete with water.
  3. Mix.
  4. Label the bottle.

Use

Shake the bottle well before each use.
Spray on the sides of the dry bowl, leave for at least 15 minutes and then rub with the brush.

Use for regular maintenance.
